Corylopsis, commonly known as Winter Hazel, is lesser-known than other late winter to early spring flowering shrubs such as Forysthia and Quince, but we think it is a more beautiful and elegant shrub. Golden Spring Winter Hazel is extra special in that it’s leaves emerge bright yellow with rouge-red tinting turning to a golden-yellow in sun or a soft chartreuse to lime green in shade and finally to golden and orange shades in fall. Heralding the arrival of spring in late winter, LOADS of drooping racemes packed with fragrant, luminous soft yellow flowers appear along all the bare, zig-zagging stems before the leaves emerge. Growing to about six to 8 feet tall and wide, Golden Spring is a magnificent addition to a sunny or shady woodland border that will have you always looking forward to its glorious winter bloom.
